Yellow-crowned Night-Herons
My brother Frank, my son Daniel and I went birding at Huntley Meadows Park, Fairfax County, Virginia on Saturday April 6, 2002.  The weather was cold in the 40's, cloudy and bright between 12:30 and 2:30 pm.  Among a good cross section of species, we saw two of the Yellow-crowned Night-Herons that have been reported there recently.  The wind prohibited a super-sharp shot, but these digital photos, taken with the Nikon CP990 through the Swarovski AT80 spotting scope set at 20x and using a Digimount adapter, xtend-a-view sun shade and cable release, were good enough to capture these beautiful birds.
